Headstone Ordering FAQs
These answers cover the practical details of choosing and ordering a memorial. For help with a particular design or order, contact Signature Headstones.
Before You Order
Ask for the written requirements for your plot or section, including size, style, material, finish, base and installation rules. Confirm whether a drawing or permit is needed before production. Our cemetery checklist helps you collect the information.
Speak with the cemetery before ordering. Confirm that it accepts the proposed memorial, who is authorized to install it, and any receiving or installation fees. Ordering the stone and arranging its installation are separate tasks.
Browse flat, pillow, slant, upright and special shape memorials. Start with the cemetery’s permitted styles, then compare the dimensions and options shown on the individual product pages. The headstone buying guide explains what to consider.
Design & Proofs
Use the customization options offered for your selected product to plan names, dates, inscriptions and available artwork or portraits. Options vary by memorial. Contact our team before ordering if your design requires something the product page does not offer.
Companion layouts are available on eligible products. Choose a size and layout that suit the wording and the cemetery requirements. Tell us if you are planning space for information that may be added in the future; do not assume future engraving is included in the original order.
A separate Layout Proof option is available. Review that page for its current fee, revision allowance and approval process. If the cemetery requires a formal drawing, contact us before ordering to confirm what it needs.
Review every name, date, inscription and selected design element. Check spelling and punctuation against your written instructions, and ask another family member to review them. Send any correction to our team promptly with your order number.
Timing, Shipping & Installation
Ask our team for the current estimate for your selected memorial and delivery address. Production time, shipping transit and cemetery installation should be planned separately. Let us know about a required date before placing the order so we can discuss what is available.
Read the shipping policy for the current standard-shipping coverage and address restrictions. Residential delivery, certain destinations or additional services can require a separate charge. Contact us before ordering if you are unsure whether your delivery address qualifies.
Installation and cemetery fees are not included in the advertised memorial price. Ask your cemetery or installer about foundation work, setting the stone, required permits and any related charges.
Changes, Delivery Issues & Guarantee
Contact our team as soon as possible with your order number and the requested change. Personalized orders have restrictions, particularly once production has begun. Review the refund policy for the applicable terms; do not assume a standard 30-day return period applies to an engraved memorial.
Inspect the shipment at delivery and document any visible damage with photographs. Contact our team promptly with your order number and the details. Review the delivery-inspection and reporting requirements in the refund policy.
Granite is a natural material, so grain, veining and color can vary. Product photographs help you compare options, but individual pieces will not be identical. Contact us if you have questions about a particular color before ordering.
Contact our team with your order number, photographs and a description of the concern. Ask for the written guarantee terms that apply to your purchase so you can understand coverage, exclusions and how to submit a claim.
